Joe Biden, at his first presidential press conference in God knows how long, said that his administration has fulfilled a campaign promise and united the country.

Good thing he also said he doesn’t believe in polls.

A new Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey found only 16% of respondents believe Biden has united the nation while 43% think he’s ushered in more divisive times.

Yet Biden, to America, said this when asked if he’s united Americans: “Based on some of the stuff we got done, I’d say yes.”

Move over, Yoda. The powers of denial of this man are great.

He also said at this same press conference he doesn’t “believe the polls.”

But for those who do — there’s this, from AP-NORC: Only a quarter of Americans see Biden as a “strong leader.” An estimated 45% approve of his handling of COVID-19 — but that’s down from December, when 57% approved. And more Americans disapprove than approve of how he’s running things from the White House.

By the numbers, 56% disapprove of his job performance; 43% approve. In July, according to the same poll, 59% approved.

Ouch.

That’s a tanking by any account.

And in what could be described as the signature summary of Biden’s entire presidency to date, there’s this comment from a man named Gary Cameron, 66, of Oklahoma, in the AP story about the recent poll findings: “Whenever [Biden] does a speech on television, in your mind, you’re thinking, ‘God, is this guy even going to get through this speech?’”

There you have it.

The Joe Biden legacy.

“Only about a quarter [of poll respondents] were very confident that Biden ‘has the mental capacity to serve effectively as president’ or ‘is healthy enough to serve effectively as president,’” AP wrote. “Close to half are not confident in Biden’s mental capability or health.”

But Biden doesn’t believe the polls.

So we all must suffer another three years of more of the same.
