OPINION:
What you hear these days from the Democrats isn’t madness. They haven’t lost their minds, but they are in a desperate panic for a good reason. Historically throughout the world, no one has wanted what the left ultimately vomits up onto a society. For a while, leftists can fake being genuinely concerned about policy and the quality of people’s lives, but that’s a lie, and eventually, they’re exposed as the grifters and abusers that they are.
We are at that stage right now here in our beloved United States.
The Democrats are now taking a page from all the world’s banana republics and totalitarian regimes by declaring their critics and political opponents’ criminals. Or, even better, terrorists!
This slide into demonizing our fellow Americans is as appalling as it is predictable.
What has the worldwide left always done when citizens say thanks but no thanks? Looking at the Democratic Party right now tells you everything you need to know. Like all brutes, they declare those who disagree with them enemies of the state. They establish cultural regulations making it too frightening and dangerous for many to speak up. They make it a crime to criticize or question official narratives. They’re constructing scenarios to divide and conquer one group from another. Racist! Sexist! Transphobe! Homophobe!
Those accusations are bad enough, but now two more accusations have been added to the Democrats’ arsenal — terrorist and domestic enemy — ratcheting up the malicious intent of these federal tyrants. It’s bad enough to be smeared with the lie that you’re a bigot, but these labels are to move us along from being smeared and libeled to being arrested.
The Democrats reveal their template declaring Americans who dissent as terrorists every chance they get. Every event, every tragedy and especially every criticism and rejection of the Biden dumpster fire have the potential to become terrorist “incitement.” If our betters arbitrarily decide it is so.
Almost immediately after the Jan. 6 riot, the Democrats declared it a terrorist act. Yet the majority arrested on Jan. 6 are charged with misdemeanors like trespassing.
Reuters reported in August 2021: “The FBI has found scant evidence that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result. … ‘Ninety to ninety-five percent of these are one-off cases,’ said a former senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. ‘Then you have five percent, maybe, of these militia groups that were more closely organized. But there was no grand scheme.’”
But the Democrats keep telling the “insurrection” lie.
Sen. Marco Rubio put it well, speaking on the Senate floor: “I think almost everyone would tell you what happened on Jan. 6 was a terrible thing, and it should never have happened, and it should never happen again. But I don’t care how many candlelight vigils and musical performances you have from the cast of Hamilton, you’re not going to convince most normal and sane people that our government last year was almost overthrown by a guy wearing a Viking hat and speedos.”
Indeed.
Vice President Kamala Harris compared the Jan. 6 riot to Pearl Harbor and Sept. 11 attacks. The comparison is vile and insulting to all Americans. She deliberately made it to conflate Trump and his supporters with Imperial Japan in World War II and al-Qaeda, state enemies who murdered thousands of Americans.
The method to their madness never ends. Remember the National School Board Association letter in October of 2021 comparing parents to terrorists and asking the Department of Justice to use the Patriot Act against those protesting critical race theory and other garbage woke ideas being taught to their children? We now have confirmation this was not an organic outreach by an out-of-touch leftist activist group. Education Secretary Miguel Cardona solicited that letter from the NSBA. His office denies it, but it is revealed in emails obtained by a parents’ group.
This was a request from an outside group that the Biden administration needed to give itself the reason to federally target engaged parents who were hurting President Biden’s so-called progressive agenda.
This is another naked effort to use federal power to intimidate and frighten regular Americans into silence and retreat. But they have to have the excuse to use federal power, and terrorism is that canard.
It doesn’t stop there. This week, during a speech in Atlanta pushing the Democrats’ bill making elections more vulnerable to fraud, Mr. Biden called Americans who oppose their corrupt project to destroy election integrity “domestic enemies.”
Do you see where this goes? Everyone who opposes any part of the Democrats’ agenda, whether parents, voters, journalists or conservatives in all walks of life, will be targets of intimidation and control to frighten us into retreat.
Threats, bullying and force and the last bastion of the failed and malignant. It will also be the last stand of a Democratic Party that chose hate and division over patriotism and optimism.
