OPINION:
As Democrats in Congress push several bills federalizing state elections and loosening voting regulations, Republicans over at the America First Policy Institute compiled examples of Democrats — from Vice President Kamala Harris to Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont — spreading claims of hacked elections.
“We brought in folks who before our eyes hacked election machines,” Ms. Harris said in 2018.
“You can run the best campaign, you can even become the nominee and you can have the election stolen from you,” former Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said in 2019.
Another clip shows President Obama in 2007 warning of the importance of keeping paper ballot records to protect election security.
Hogan Gidley, director for election integrity at America First Policy Institute, said the montage shows the hypocrisy of Democrats today who want to silence those — particularly among supporters of President Trump — who raise valid concerns about election integrity.
“Liberals recklessly and falsely label anyone who has legitimate questions about elections everything from a racist, to a suppressionist, to an insurrectionist,” he said. “But for decades in this country, it was these same liberals who repeatedly expressed concerns about the voting process.
“This video exposes the left’s rampant hypocrisy on the issue and reminds viewers that they are silent about election integrity after they win, but vocal about it after they lose. When 85% of Americans support voter protection measures like photo ID, the left and the right should come together in our states and pass laws that make it easy to vote, but hard to cheat. The American people demand it and they deserve it — regardless of who is in power.”
