Washington Wizards forward Kristaps Porzingis will be out through at least the All-Star break as the team said he won’t play in Thursday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, the team’s last contest before the pause.
Porzingis has yet to make his Wizards debut since Washington acquired him from Dallas last week. The 26-year-old, who has a lengthy injury history, has been out since Jan. 30 with a bone bruise in his knee. He’s appeared in only 34 games this season.
Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard said last week Porzingis told him he’s ready to play, but they wouldn’t rush him out on the court if he’s not comfortable. “This is a big picture thing for us,” Sheppard said.
