Ticket prices for Super Bowl LVI continue to drop as Sunday’s game in Los Angeles gets closer. The hometown LA Rams will face the Cincinnati Bengals.
As of Thursday afternoon, the cheapest ticket on TickPick could be had for $3,733, down from $5,400 on Monday. According to Eventellect — a company that handles single-game ticket sales for NFL teams — the cheapest ticket on the site a few days ago was $7,000.
According to Eventellect cofounder Patrick Ryan, there are a number of factors contributing to the decline in prices, primarily relating to the Rams-Bengals matchup.
“The Rams are not a local team yet. They’ve been there for a couple of years now, but the 49ers would have been a better draw. On the AFC side, you needed the Bills to emerge,” Mr. Patrick said.
Mr. Ryan said prices have likely leveled off and will remain stable until kickoff.
“Now that the media is reporting that the prices are going down, people are going to look at how down they are. And they will see that it’s half of where they were a week ago,” Mr. Ryan said. “The more the word gets out that prices are low, the more stable the market will get.”
He said the only thing keeping prices from dropping more is the game’s location.
“If this Super Bowl wasn’t in LA, I think that these tickets could be below a thousand bucks right now,” Mr. Patrick said. “The LA market is interesting from just sheer size here and median income. You’ll get a number of celebrities who will see that the Super Bowl is in their backyard and want to go.”
