OPINION:
Elon Musk, in just a few short weeks as chief of Twitter, has fired a large percentage of unneeded (i.e., freeloading and/or entitled) employees, fired key executives who’ve played the secret role of censors for the Democrats for years, released internal company documents showing just how deep the secret role of Democrat-fawning censors within Twitter’s own walls had become, and, most recently, fired the corporate attorney who was just outed as being the duplicitous force of stonewalling the release of the Twitter Files.
He’s doing for Twitter what Donald Trump did for America vs. the deep state. Musk, the great social media Disruptor-In-Chief: Make Twitter Great Again for free speech.
Liberals are howling — howling! And no wonder. Every day brings a new upset to the liberal world order. Every day showcases a new hypocrisy on the part of the left. Democrats are the same people who say they’re tolerant and respectful of dissenting viewpoints and opposing views, while at the same time silencing all dissenting viewpoints and opposing views. We knew Democrats were like this.
Thanks to Musk, we now have some documentation to show for it.
Jim Baker, a deep state shill, has just been booted from his legal counsel role at Twitter after the two journalists who have been feeding the public the documents showing the Democrat Party’s control of the social media platform’s content discovered that the very company lawyer who aided and abetted Democrats and their happy helpers at Twitter in censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story was the very company lawyer in charge of “vetting” the Twitter Files for release.
That’s putting the fox in charge of the henhouse.
Or worse, that’s putting a Democrat in charge of deciding acceptable speech. We all know what that means. We all know where that leads.
So Musk took speedy action.
“Elon Musk Fires Twitter Deputy General Counsel Jim Baker over Suppression of Hunter Biden Story,” National Review wrote in a headline.
Or, right from Musk’s own Twitter mouth: “In light of concerns about Baker’s possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter.”
It’s great to have a social media platform behaving in a way that allows all to be social.
Democrats, of course, now want to clamp down on Twitter and investigate the platform, and — as White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pledged — keep a “close eye” on what’s posted.
That’s just another way of saying Democrats are going to continue to censor, and continue to try to censor, Americans’ free speech.
Republicans taking over control of the House must insist on full accountability. For years, Congress has played at holding social media chiefs accountable for their clamping of individual speech that oh-so-coincidentally always seemed to counter the Democrats’ and leftist bureaucrats’ narrative of choice. But little has ever come of these hearings. Now’s the time, with Musk taking the lead, to bring accountability to a segment of culture and politics that has held massive power and influence over the tone of culture and politics for far too long.
It’s one thing to be a private company and discriminate against voices and views deemed undesirable. That’s constitutional.
It’s another thing to be a private company doing the bidding of one political party over — and against — another by stifling, booting and silencing voices and views deemed undesirable. That’s unconstitutional. More than that, it’s un-American.
Time for the Marxist takeover of the First Amendment to come to an end.
Thankfully, the new owner of Twitter seems to agree.
