OPINION:
Disney’s “Strange World,” the company’s latest movie offering that featured an openly gay character, flopped at the box office, raking in only $18.6 million of projected $30 million opening days’ revenues.
Good. But don’t expect Disney to tamp its pro-LGBTQ agenda any. This is not a lesson-learned moment for the far-left. For leftists, it’s go woke to even the point of going broke — even to infinity and beyond.
Love is love, after all. Isn’t that the leftists’ favorite go-to against critics who decry the normalization of the abnormal — who rage against the cage of what’s outright criminal?
Returning Disney CEO Bob Iger, in a recent employee townhall meeting in which he spoke of the company’s fight with Florida over a law that’s been wrongfully cast as the “don’t say gay” bill, said he was “sorry to see us dragged into that battle.”
Dragged?
Disney ran full steam ahead to start that battle.
It was Disney’s employees that pressured the company to take on Gov. Ron DeSantis and Republicans in the state who were tired of public schools stripping parents of their rights to raise their children as they saw fit, and who crafted a piece of legislation that simply banned teachers from instructing elementary age kids — kindergarten through grade three — about sexual matters and gender identity, especially when parents haven’t been informed of said instruction. Out of that came the left’s wailing cries about a “don’t say gay” bill. Out of that came Disney employees and Disney executives and Disney pro-LGBTQ activists taking to the media, taking to the public arenas, taking to their well-funded like-minded leftist organizations a pledge to fight, fight, fight what they termed as a discriminatory and harmful bill.
Iger himself led the charge.
When President Biden tweeted, “I want every member of the LGBTQI+ community — especially the kids who will be impacted by this hateful bill — to know that you are loved and accepted just as you are. I have your back, and my administration will continue to fight for the protections and safety you deserve” — Iger, retweeted and added this: “I’m with the president on this! If passed, this bill will put vulnerable, young LGBTQ people in jeopardy.”
He was talking about kindergartners. He was talking about kids in grades three and below — as if they’ve already determined, on their own, absent any intervening factors, they are gay.
In an interview with CNN about a month after he made those tweeted remarks, Iger, who had abandoned his Disney post to another but apparently disagreed with how the company was then being run, said CEOs “have to weigh in on issues, even if voicing an opinion on those issues potentially puts some of your business in danger.”
Florida’s Republicans and DeSantis, following Disney’s disgraceful attack of a common sense bit of legislation to protect the state’s youngest and most vulnerable — to save the kids from sexual grooming —stripped the company of its special tax status. Now Iger, who’s ostensibly come back to save Disney from its two-year-plus low on earnings and its 37% plunge of stock prices says he regrets the company was “dragged into that [Florida] battle” and that his goal is to “quiet things down” — to move past the distractions called sexual grooming of children?
Not so fast.
Leftists and woke corporate types and Democrats have a problem with pushing sex, sex, sex into the minds of the innocent. And parents and people from all political walks are getting pretty tired of it.
It’s disgusting.
“Balenciaga could face major business hit over ‘BDSM teddy bear’ ads,” The New York Post wrote in a headline about the luxury retail brand, now under fire for a marketing campaign that saw little girls holding stuffed bears dressed in sexual bondage gear.
Balenciaga has apologized. And ambassador Kim Kardashian said she’s reevaluating her relationship with the company — whatever that means. So far, we know it doesn’t mean she’s going to jump off Balenciaga’s payroll.
Such is the equivocating of the evil.
Such is the stuff what passes as Democratic policies these days.
Schools around the nation have been rocked by parents, post-COVID, who’ve seen the grooming of their kids and decided enough is enough and that they’re going to take back their authority, one county at a time, and force a stop to drag queen story hours, to boys masquerading as girls to obtain access to female dressing rooms, to boys pretending to be girls to compete in female athletics, to teachers telling kids they can be whatever sex they want and whenever they want, to those in positions of power and in roles dedicated to protecting the children instead abusing their positions to abuse the children by filling their heads with LGBTQ fantasies and lies and poisoning their minds with administratively approved books on oral sex, and gay sex, and sex between a man and a boy.
“California school broadcasts sexually explicit books, some covering ‘pedophiles,’ kink and pornographic images,” Fox News wrote in October.
“Fairfax schools pull two LGBTQ+ books with graphic sex from high school libraries,” ABC7 News wrote about a Virginia district in mid-2021.
The Democratic response?
The leftist reply?
“Jill Biden Says ‘All Books’ Should Be In Schools” — ran a headline from The Daily Caller in mid-2022, after the first lady was asked about parental outrage over sexually explicit books in public libraries.
“All books should be in the library, all books,” she said. “This is America, we don’t ban books.”
She probably wouldn’t hold the same view of books that showed vulgar and sexualized images of her newly married granddaughter Naomi. Or of books that portrayed herself in trysts with, say, a young boy.
But for the rest of America’s children? For the parents in America who are trying to keep their children from seeing images that, once seen, cannot be unseen and that once viewed, open the doors wide to questions about matters that shouldn’t be discussed for years and years to come?
It’s open season.
It’s tough luck.
It’s too bad, so sad, get with the LGBTQ program.
Leftists, in all their wicked, evil, ungodly and psychologically malfunctioned glory, will continue to push the barriers and norms until the point pedophilia is regarded as just another fun sexual preference.
It’s a fight the righteous can never quit. The safety and security and sanity of the innocents — of innocence itself — depend on it.
