Rory McIlroy wasn’t playing around.

The No. 3 golfer in the world was the butt of a fan’s joke on Saturday at the BMW Championship, and he wasn’t laughing.

On the 15th green, a fan was operating a remote-controlled golf ball near McIlroy. The 33-year-old golfer tried to pick up the ball multiple times, only for the fan to scoot the ball away. Once McIlroy captured the ball, he threw it into the nearby water.

McIlroy was cheered after he chucked the ball, although a few fans did boo. The fan was thrown out by law enforcement.

Scott Stallings, who was paired with McIlroy Saturday, recounted the incident with USA Today after the round.

“He kept yelling at Rory, ‘This is my dream, this is my dream,’” Stallings said. “I don’t know exactly what he was dreaming about, but his ball is gone.”

“I thought it was great,” Stallings said about McIlroy throwing the ball. “I was about to go and do the same thing.”
