The Wizards’ 2022-23 season opener is set for Wednesday, Oct. 21 at the Indiana Pacers, as the NBA revealed its new schedule Wednesday.
Eleven of the Wizards’ first 17 games will be played at Capital One Arena, with the home opener held Friday, Oct. 23 against the Chicago Bulls. The schedule ends with 14 of the Wizards’ final 20 games at home, including the regular season finale on Easter Sunday against the Houston Rockets on April 9. The Easter Sunday game is the Wizards’ first since the 2017-18 season.
The Wizards’ longest stretch of games at Capital One Arena is a six-game homestand from Nov.10-20. The defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors visit the District on Jan. 16 in a Martin Luther King Jr. Day matinee.
The longest road trip of the season comes in December, with an 11-day, six-game excursion starting Dec. 14 in Denver and ending Dec. 23 in Sacramento.
The schedule features 14 back-to-backs and five instances of consecutive games against the same opponent.
The full NBA schedule release revealed 1,230 games are set to be played between Oct. 18 and April 9. They’ll take place in four countries with Mexico and France playing host to regular-season contests along with the U.S. and Canada.
Stephen Curry and Golden State will raise another title banner on opening night, as is the NBA’s customary perk for champions. There’s a five-game slate of games on Christmas yet again. And LeBron James is closing in on passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the No. 1 spot in the league’s all-time scoring race. On his current pace, James might get there in the second half of January.
