Chicago Bears wide receiver Byron Pringle was arrested on Sunday for driving with a suspended license and reckless driving, according to multiple reports.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, Pringle was doing doughnuts in his sports car despite having a young child in his backseat and having a suspended license. Pringle, a 28-year-old wideout who won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, was caught ripping the doughnut on a road 30 miles north of downtown Tampa, police said.
The officer said he smelled rubber and heard tires screeching before seeing Pringle’s car, an expensive Dodge Challenger known as a “Hellcat,” come out from the smoke. Pringle’s license was previously suspended on Feb. 10 for “financial responsibility,” police said.
This offseason, Pringle signed a one-year deal with the Bears after a four-year stint with the Chiefs. He caught 42 passes for 568 yards and five touchdowns last season.
Bears general manager Ryan Poles said Tuesday that he spoke with Pringle after the arrest.
“I know him very well. It’s not a reflection of him at all,” Poles said, per football writer Adam Hoge.
