Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors has slammed the U.S. for what she referred to as “triggering” charity transparency laws after the organization’s purchase of a $6 million Los Angeles mansion was exposed.

Ms. Cullors claimed that activists’ lives were being put at risk because they endured trauma when having to disclose their charities’ finances. She maintained that the system “is being literally weaponized against them.” She also said “how it was such a trip” to be hearing about the 990 tax form now, especially since she’d never heard of it before all of this happened.

Ms. Cullors then blasted the media’s scrutiny of BLM, calling it an “experiment” that will be used as a means to bring down other activist groups similar to her organization.
