OPINION:
On Aug. 15, after a reporter asked if a Taliban takeover was inevitable in Afghanistan and President Biden said no, the president already knew that the Taliban were winning (“Biden focused on ’perception’ of Afghan forces in final call with Ghani: Report,” Web, Sept. 1). Quid-pro Joe wanted Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani to paint a rosier picture and hide the Taliban’s surging — in return for military support for the Afghan army.
Biden has been lying and deceiving the American people from the get-go. His foolhardy decision to pull the last of the U.S. troops from Afghanistan during the Taliban fighting season has already resulted in the death of 13 troops. At least 100 American citizens, along with Afghans who helped the U.S., are still stranded behind enemy lines.
Former President Trump was impeached for a phone call. But with a Democrat-majority House, it would be next to impossible to impeach Biden. In the meantime, Biden’s administration considers the Afghanistan withdrawal was an “extraordinary success.”
