OPINION:
Critical race theory. Parents clashing with school board members on what should be taught in public schools. Teachers unions delaying school reopening and pushing a radical agenda during the COVID-19 pandemic. President Biden’s attorney general weaponizing the Department of Justice, dubbing unhappy parents “domestic terrorists.”
These are only some of the issues Sean Spicer tackles in his upcoming book “Radical Nation – Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s Dangerous Plan for America” released by Humanix Oct. 26.
“On the campaign trail, Joe Biden said he was going to be the most progressive president ever, and people on both sides of the aisle didn’t believe him,” Mr. Spicer said in an interview with the Washington Times. “So many people looked at his past and said ’we know him, no way,’ but he was telling the truth.”
Mr. Spicer’s book takes a deep dive into the personnel Mr. Biden named from Cabinet secretaries to political appointments and notes their lack of qualifications for the jobs they possess and the liberal policies they’re spearheading behind the scenes.
“Liberals are now the center of the Democratic Party,” Mr. Spicer said. “It should come as no surprise as to why we’ve gotten to where we are under this administration and the multiple crises we face as a nation.”
The last chapter of Mr. Spicer’s book is a call to action, identifying conservative groups and organizations to both join and support to help fight Mr. Biden’s woke policies.
“Radical agenda” will be Mr. Spicer’s third book since leaving his role as the Trump administration’s press secretary in 2017. After his stint in the White House, Mr. Spicer competed on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” and now hosts an evening program “Spicer & Co” on Newsmax TV.

In March 2021, United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) posted a video of the union president, Cecily Myart-Cruz. She complained that state officials and LA parents have been pressuring the union to reopen schools. California Governor Gavin Newsom and the state legislature had crafted a plan for reopening schools that had been locked down for a year, but Myart-Cruz dismissed the plan as ‘a recipe for propagating structural racism.’
She added, ‘Some voices are being allowed to speak louder than others. We have to call out the privilege behind the largely white, wealthy parents driving the push for a rushed return. Their experience of this pandemic is not our students’ families’ experiences.’
Cecily Myart-Cruz has tipped her hand, showing us that woke critical race theory is one of the driving forces keeping our classrooms locked and empty. The notion that structural racism and white privilege are behind the effort to reopen schools is ludicrous. All kids, regardless of race or economic status, need to be in school. (We’ll examine the origins of critical race theory in Chapter 16.)
Two weeks before Myart-Cruz complained about being pressured for a rushed return to the classroom, the CDC released guidelines for safely opening public schools. The five CDC strategies were mask-wearing, social distancing, handwashing, cleaning/ventilation, and contact tracing/quarantine protocols. But Myart-Cruz and her union shrugged off the CDC guidelines, blamed structural racism, and dug in their heels.
One of the greatest threats to our children and their education—next to the teachers’ unions—is the woke critical race theory that many want to impose on our children. In fact, parents across the country are discovering that there is a pandemic of woke indoctrination sweeping through their schools. Here are some examples.
In Cupertino, California, a city with median home values of $2.3 million, a teacher at Meyerholz Elementary School led a class of third-graders in an exercise based on critical race theory. The teacher told these children, ages eight and nine, to find their place on an identity map that listed such characteristics as race, gender, economic class, religion, and family structure. Then the teacher told them to deconstruct their identity and figure out where they ranked according to their power and privilege.
The teacher then told these children that they were part of a ‘dominant [system of] white, middle class, cisgender, educated, able-bodied, Christian, English speaker[s],’ whose purpose was to ‘hold power and stay in power.’ The teacher then had the children read from This Book Is Anti-Racist: 20 Lessons on How to Wake Up, Take Action, and Do the Work, by Tiffany Jewell, a book for indoctrinating children in critical race theory. In that book, children learn that ‘a a White, cisgender man, who is able-bodied, heterosexual, considered handsome and speaks English, has more privilege than a black transgender woman.’
Parents were shocked and angered when they discovered the destructive ideas this teacher was inflicting on their children. Said one mother, an Asian American, ‘They were basically teaching racism to my eight-year-old.’ A group of parents met with the principal and demanded that this instruction be stopped. The principal consented—but this indoctrination was not the result of one radical teacher going rogue. It had been approved by the principal as part of a ‘process of daily learning facilitated by a certified teacher.’”
