OPINION:
The new comptroller of the currency selected by President Joe Biden is fresh off the Marxist bus, having graduated from Moscow State University in 1989 and since, spoken in glowing terms about communism.
This is quite a public relations problem for a president of a free market nation.
Saule Omarova was named by the White House in September as the ideal for comptroller of the currency in part, because she would be the “first woman and person of color” to serve in that role.
Unfortunately, she also brings a lot of communist baggage to the spot.
As The Wall Street Journal reported, Omarova wants to outright eliminate banks.
“She graduated from Moscow State University in 1989 on the Lenin Personal Academic Scholarship,” the news outlet wrote. “Thirty years later, she still believes the Soviet economic system was superior, and that U.S. banking should be remade in the Gosbank’s image.”
She’s tweeted about the deficiencies of the free market in terms of guaranteeing gender equity — something that capitalism doesn’t even concern itself with, at least not on ye olde profit and loss statements, the standard-bearer of corporate successes. And she’s outright hostile to the idea of supply and demand determining the likes of salaries and product prices, preferring instead to see the federal government — the state — set such values.
So just to get this straight: Biden wants a flaming unapologetic communist in charge of America’s banking industry.
As if the proudly socialist, loudly petulant Squad in Congress weren’t bad enough.
As if an open socialist like Sen. Bernie Sanders driving climate change and social justice into infrastructure legislation weren’t bad enough.
We’ve got to hand the entire financial fate of America and America’s spirit of entrepreneurship over to an unabashed communist in Treasury?
Omarova would be a disaster.
But then again, her pressings and policy plans for America’s economy — for the state to take over banking, for the state to take over currency, for the state to “redesign our financial system & turn Fed’s balance sheet into a true “People’s Ledger,” as she wrote in a tweet — all these ideas are simply part and parcel of all Democrat Party ideas these days.
The Democrat Party of today is not the Democratic Party of John F. Kennedy’s day.
Heck, it’s not even the party of Bill Clinton days.
Neither JFK nor Bill Clinton hated America. They may have advanced policies that were different from the Republican ideal; they may have stood weak in the realm of personal morals and squishy on limits to government powers. But even Clinton, even morally bankrupt Clinton, didn’t outright plot to bring America to national knees — didn’t scream wildly for a complete crippling of the Constitution and an utter change in the foundation of U.S. governance and politics. That was Barack Obama.
Barack Obama ushered in the party of far leftism.
Barack Obama was the one who vowed to change the way of America’s structure.
Barack Obama was the one who really — and curiously, given his own skin color and simultaneous high-ranking White House role — ratcheted racial divisions and tensions, by labeling the country as inherently racist.
Barack Obama is the one who detested capitalism and instead embraced the socialist-slash-communist principles of the global elites.
And now feckless Joe Biden is being steamrolled by these same anti-America elites.
Biden’s pick for comptroller is a communist in mind and principle.
And that makes her a perfect fit for today’s Democratic Party.
