Maryland Stadium got a major upgrade ahead of the Terrapins’ 51-14 loss to No. 5 Iowa on Friday night — two brand new videoboards.
The biggest upgrade comes to the west end zone screen, which now features the largest video board in the Big Ten Conference and the ninth-largest collegiate videoboard in the country at 120-by-54 feet. The previous west end zone board was 49-by-30 feet and more than 15 years old.
Maryland athletic director Damon Evans said in a statement that the upgrades “continue to demonstrate how Maryland Athletics is leading boldly” to enhance the experience for players and fans.
“We know our fans have been anticipating this video board for a long time,” Evans said.
The videoboard on the east end of Maryland Stadium above the football team’s offices and meeting rooms was also upgraded to a 34-by-18-foot screen. Both screens show video in full 1080p HD quality and debut in tandem with 107 new speakers spread across the stadium.
