One day, as a king was keeping court, a case was brought before him. There was finger-pointing, and there were accusations. Anger and confusion prevailed. Tears flowed, and emotions were high as two women presented their case before Solomon, the man touted to be the wisest judge in all the land.

The dispute was over a child – a young baby boy. Both women claimed to be the mother. Both claimed the child belonged to them. Both claimed that the other was lying. Both demanded that they alone were telling the truth.

How did Solomon resolve this dispute?

Well, in the midst of what seemed to be, at best, 50/50 odds, he turned to his bodyguard and said, “Take a sword and cut the baby in two. Give one half to each woman.”

And as Paul Harvey would say, “You know the rest of the story.” Upon hearing the king’s judgment, the real mother cried out, “Stop! Don’t kill my son!” And by doing so, she proved what most would consider the obvious moral to this tale: No real mother would ever let her son be cut in two, for all that would be left is a dead baby.

On November 2, 2021, hundreds of thousands of “real moms” went to the polls in the state of Virginia, and the reason Glenn Youngkin is now Old Dominion’s governor and Terry McAuliffe is not is that this army of parents rose up and shouted, “Stop it! We will no longer let you cut our children in half!”

“No,” they said. “We will not let you teach our sons that they can be girls. We are finished sitting idly by while you tell them a female isn’t a fact. Biology is not make-believe. Men and women are real. They are not pretend. Human beings are not leprechauns or unicorns. They actually exist in a real world, with real definitions and real science. From time immemorial, we have known that there are two sexes, not 50, and any claim to the contrary is utter lunacy!

“No! We will not let you continue to indoctrinate our daughters to believe that they are the ones in the wrong for not wanting boys in their bathrooms, their locker rooms, or their showers. We are done with you making a joke of Title IX by letting males steal female sports. Our daughters deserve respect. They have dignity. We have had it with your misogyny, your arrogance, and your predatory sexuality.

“No! We will not remain silent while you peddle your rancid racism. You will not teach our children to judge people by the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. We will not let you destroy the decades of progress our nation has made toward becoming a color-blind society. Your transparent agenda to malign Martin Luther King Jr’s dream is a nightmare.

“No! We will not let you destroy the nuclear family. Our sons need their mothers. Our daughters want their dads. Both kids need both parents, and your ignorance of the mountain of evidence proving the social, moral, and economic benefits of having a father and a mother in the home committed to one another and committed to raising their children is nothing short of criminal.

“No! You will not cut our children in half! We will not let you continue to cut the souls out of our sons and the hearts out of our daughters. Take your sword away! We are the real parents here, and you will withhold your hand. You will let our children live!”

The lesson of Solomon is pretty simple: You can’t cut a living thing in half and expect it to survive. C.S. Lewis’ taught us essentially the same thing when he said, “We have made such a tragic comedy of the situation – we continue to clamor for those very qualities we are rendering impossible… In a sort of ghastly simplicity, we [have removed] the organ [while we continue to] demand the function. We make men without chests and expect of them virtue… We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings to be fruitful.”

This is the message you heard this past Tuesday from hundreds of thousands of voters who rose up and told Terry McAuliffe and his party, “No! We’ve had enough! You will not eviscerate our children. You will not cut them in half with your ugly sword of social engineering. You will not emasculate our sons. You will not neuter our daughters. We will not let you remove their character. You will not kill their souls.”

Thank God there is still a remnant of real parents left.
