Virginia’s next governor will be a Republican — Glenn Youngkin, not Terry McAuliffe.
Virginia’s next lieutenant governor, attorney general, majority in the House of Delegates — all will be Republicans, day-after voting counts increasingly show. Everywhere you look, Democrats are being rejected. The radical left that’s taken over the Democrats’ messaging is being rejected.
Tellingly, post-election day, post-election morning, McAuliffe had yet to concede. He didn’t concede until the 10 a.m. hour, underscoring the reluctance of Democrats to acknowledge their far leftism is wrong for America.
But voters have spoken. Democrats are going down in flames.
And not just in Virginia.
New Jersey’s governor race, the day after voting, is at a neck-and-neck count. A far-left effort in Minneapolis, one of the nation’s most liberal cities, to fundamentally weaken the mission of police and turn law enforcement into therapy responders failed by a massive margin.
As Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in a Fox News interview about the changing of the political party guards in Virginia and beyond, said: “I think people are rebelling against what the Democrat Party stands for nowadays.”
Which is? Never-ending coronavirus-tied mandates and clamps on freedoms. Radical teaching in the schools. Propaganda pushes about LGBTQ policies. The ripping of rights from parents and insistence that government knows best.
On a national level, inflation hasn’t helped Democrats. Supply chain issues and empty store shelves haven’t helped Democrats. Afghanistan and the betrayal of U.S. citizens and U.S. allies haven’t helped Democrats.
The big name, big guns’ politicos coming to Virginia on behalf of Terry McAuliffe — names like Barack Obama and Kamala Harris and Joe Biden — haven’t helped Democrats.
In short: Democrats haven’t helped Democrats.
Democrats have been Democrats’ worst enemies.
The fact that they won’t acknowledge this — the fact, for instance, that McAuliffe failed to readily concede in the face of an obvious wide-margin loss to Youngkin — only sets the stage for 2022 midterms to sweep Republican.
And if Biden continues the path of least constitutional, most socialist, the stage for Republican win of the White House in 2024 will be set, as well.
Tuesday’s elections should be a wake-up call to Democrats to slow their socialist-Marxist-collectivist-globalist roll. But it won’t be; the left won’t quit its quest for total top-down control. That’s to the Democratic Party’s peril.
These elections are a mark of rising patriotism; they’re a clear signal that the Democrats are being slapped back, along with their radical agendas. These elections are a sign that the America as we know it, land of the free, home of the limited government, nation of God-given individualism — that all of these foundational elements of American Exceptionalism still exist. The rise of patriots is real. The backlash against radical socialism has begun. The spirit of America will surely soar once again.
