OPINION:
Loudoun County, Virginia, School Board members fielded massive parental backlash for assigned reading to ninth-graders that included such fictional conversations as, “She sucked my d—-” and “He had a big d—-.”
But don’t teach the Bible in public schools — no, not even in a comparative religion class, and most certainly not as part of a history course. Too radical; too offensive.
Oral sex, on the other hand, is accepted course material.
One at-issue book is called “Monday’s Not Coming,” by Tiffany Jackson; another, #MurderTrending by Gretchen McNeil. And in a recent meeting, angry parents read right from the pages. Among the deemed objectionable material: graphic references to oral sex, obviously sexual mentions of male genitalia sizes and inappropriate depictions of sexual encounters in the classroom.
Talk about pornographic.
What’s next, required Kama Sutra reading? Looking for Mr. Goodbar? Or perhaps a delve into a how-to series — “How to Properly Fit a Condom,” for example, or “How to Have Sex in a Locker Room Without Getting Caught,” for instance.
This is the same school system that dissociated with Dr. Seuss for Read Across America Day because of a couple of pinheads who wrote a study that slammed a dozen or so of these childhood classics for discriminatory or stereotypical references.
This is also the same school system that’s busily pushing critical race theory into classrooms, as part of teacher training, ultimately into students’ impressionable minds. For that — finally — parents are mounting a recall effort.
“A fiery ad released on social media,” The New York Post wrote, “accused Loudoun County Public Schools of training teachers that Christians are oppressors and teaching children about their ‘white privilege’ and ‘white fragility.’”
Meanwhile, even Blacks are pushing back against the ridiculous CRT lens that puts race as the filter for all that occurs in life.
“CRT is not an honest dialogue,” said one black woman whose children attend Loudoun schools, to School Board members at a recent meeting, The New York Post reported. “It is a tactic that was used by Hitler and the Ku Klux on slavery very many years ago to dumb down my ancestors so we could not think for ourselves.”
The school says CRT is not an actual part of district curriculum. But that’s a cop-out. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Teaching the principles of CRT while calling it something else — while labeling it as simply a curriculum of inclusivity and tolerance — doesn’t make it any less CRT.
Let the recall go forth.
Let similar recalls go forth in all of the school boards across the nation that have allowed the far-leftist agenda to dominate — that have allowed the socialists and collectivists to trade out traditional reading, writing and ‘rithmetic teaching for social justice causes that at root are anti-American.
Our nation’s youth are being inundated with lies by the very ones who are supposed to expand their minds and train them to critically think.
It’s about time parents wrested back control of public schools, one county at a time.
