This past Sunday was Mother’s Day, but some on the woke far left — in the latest example of their reflexive, mindless pander to the transgender lobby — have taken to calling mothers by the gender-neutral term “birthing people.”

Now, even some woke Democrats in Congress have begun using “birthing people” in lieu of “mothers,” as an indulgence to transgender men, who are in fact biological women. (Obviously, it doesn’t apply to transgender women, who are biological men and who by definition can’t give birth or be mothers.)

“I sit before you today as a single mom and I am committed to doing the absolute most to protect black mothers, to protect black babies, to protect black birthing people,” said Rep. Cori Bush, Missouri Democrat, recounting her experience with two difficult pregnancies, at a May 6 hearing of the House Oversight and Reform Committee examining what it called “America’s black maternal health crisis.”

The freshman firebrand was roundly — and rightly — ridiculed for it, by members of Congress of both (not Facebook’s 58) genders.

“’Birthing people’ — you mean women or moms?” Rep. Nancy Mace, South Carolina Republican, tweeted. “The left is so woke, they’re stripping from women the one thing that only we can do.”

Sen. Ted Cruz, in a Mother’s Day tweet, erased “Mother’s” and replaced it with “Birthing People’s”: “Happy Birthing People’s Day!” the Texas Republican wrote.

Predictably, however, NARAL Pro-Choice America came to Ms. Bush’s defense, tweeting: “When we talk about birthing people, we’re being inclusive. It’s that simple. We use gender neutral language when talking about pregnancy, because it’s not just cisgender women that can get pregnant and give birth.”

Describing biological women as “cisgender” is another arbitrary and capricious distinction concocted by language-contorting leftists.

The transgender lobby and its apologists have also referred to biological women and transgender men as “menstruating people,” for the same ridiculous reason.

Contrary to what the left and the mainstream media would have you believe, the real “science denial” is occurring on the left — and it has nothing to do with global warming.

It’s the denial of XX (female) and XY (male) chromosome science in genuflection to the transgender lobby, which despite being vanishingly small in numbers (0.003% of the population, by one estimate) is disproportionately influential.

Not only should the rational public not indulge — or even humor — this delusion, it should reject the premise behind it, that of so-called “gender fluidity.”

On this issue, Republicans and conservatives should apply one of leftist icon Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.”

“Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule,” Alinsky wrote. “Also, it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.”

At its inception in January, the 117th Congress, under Speaker Nancy Pelosi, required the use of gender-neutral language in official House proceedings. If Republicans take back the chamber in 2022, the first order of business should be to scrap that edict.
