The Washington Football Team rounded out its 2021 draft class Saturday with three picks in the seventh round, selecting Baylor defensive end William Bradley-King at No. 240, Penn State defensive end Shaka Toney at No. 246 and BYU wide receiver Dax Milne at No. 258.
Washington made 10 picks across three days, addressing major needs and aiming to add a jolt of speed to the roster. The team also took prospects capable of playing multiple spots, with coach Ron Rivera big on what he calls “position flex.”
In Round 7, the team added to its defensive line depth — taking Bradley-King and Toney, two undersized pass-rushers who fell to the last round. Bradley-King had 3½ sacks in five games last year, while Toney had five sacks in eight contests.
Washington’s defensive line was the strength of the team last season — dominating opposing fronts — but the team was in need of additional bodies as Ryan Anderson left in free agency and all-time franchise sack leader Ryan Kerrigan is a free agent.
Milne, on the other hand, is coming off his best college season — starring for the Cougars and forming a connection with quarterback Zach Wilson, who went second overall to the New York Jets. Milne, who is 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds, caught 70 passes for 1,108 yards and eight touchdowns last year. He was a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy — an award given to a top player who began his college career as a walk-on.
