CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire’s Department of Transportation is putting up signs with its customary spring load limit on sections of the state highway system.
The maximum allowable vehicular weight posted sections of state highways is 30,000 pounds gross weight, or the cumulative width in inches of all tires contacting the road surface multiplied by 300, whichever is less, the department said.
Warmer weather means sections of roads will be vulnerable to pavement breaking up as the frost leaves the underlying road base, the department said.
Road postings are determined annually by department engineers, who review each roadway in their areas before posting a road limit to ensure protection of the roads.
