James Brown was also charged Thursday with cruelty to animals and aggravated domestic battery, Wichita police said in a news release.
The 41-year-old woman suffered severe cuts on her hand and back when she was attacked with a 5- to 6-foot sword during an argument with Brown on Tuesday, police said.
