WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - A man who police allege attacked a Wichita woman with a sword and stabbed her dog has been arrested, police said Wednesday.
Police began searching for James Brown, 41, after officers went to a home early Tuesday and found his girlfriend suffering from severe cuts on her hand and back, Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.
She was hospitalized in serious condition.
Investigators determined that Brown and the woman were arguing at the home when he grabbed a 5- to 6-foot sword and struck her with it several times, Davidson said. He also stabbed the dog several times.
An arrest warrant for Brown listed charges of aggravated battery/domestic violence and animal cruelty, as well as a second aggravated battery/domestic violence charge related to the woman being strangled.
