LOS ANGELES (AP) - A touch of winter returned to Southern California on Wednesday as rain moved ashore from the Pacific, bringing a chance of snow in the region’s mountains.
Rain was reported along many coastal locations by late morning as a low pressure system moved in, the National Weather Service said.
Winter weather advisories for snow and gusty winds were issued for the mountains of Los Angeles, San Diego, San Bernardino and Riverside counties.
The region has been experiencing a very mild winter, with rainfall well below normal and spring-like days.
The Los Angeles-area weather office said high pressure will build over the region Thursday and Friday, bringing back mostly sunny skies and pushing temperatures up to the 70s (21.1 Celsius).
More rain could be on the way.
“Models are indicating a couple of impulses moving into California next week which will potentially lead us into a wetter and more dynamic pattern,” the weather service said. “Still too early for details, but a couple of chances for light rain are possible.”
