Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal will miss Monday’s game against the Indiana Pacers with a right hip contusion. Wizards coach Scott Brooks said Beal is day to day with the injury and will be evaluated again for Tuesday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Beal, the NBA’s leading scorer, left Saturday’s win over the Detroit Pistons with the injury and did not return. The 27-year-old got hurt when taking a hard fall in the first half, exiting the game shortly in the third quarter.
This is Beal’s fourth missed game this season, with the other three being for rest and injury management. Prior to injuring his hip, Beal had dealt with a sore right foot and a knee injury.
Brooks said guard Jerome Robinson will start in Beal’s place.
Robinson logged 18 minutes over the weekend in his first action in more than a month. He finished 0-for-5, but had two steals. Brooks said Robinson got the starting nod in part because of his defense.
Without Beal’s scoring ability, the Wizards will turn to Russell Westbrook, Rui Hachimura and others to carry the load. The Wizards are 0-3 without Beal this season.
