WAYCROSS, Ga. (AP) - Georgia’s governor received a coronavirus vaccine shot Friday in southeast Georgia.
Gov. Brian Kemp got the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Ware County Health Department in Waycross, his office said in a news release. He was joined by his youngest daughter, Amy Porter.
“We are both feeling great and are so thankful for the medical miracle that is literally saving countless lives here in Georgia and around the world,” Kemp said in the release. “We encourage every Georgian to join us and help our state get back to normal.”
Georgia on Thursday opened up access to the vaccine to everyone over 16. The governor traveled to the the southeastern part of the state to reinforce that vaccines are safe and effective, his office said.
