OPINION:
First came the face masks. Then came the surgeon general’s appeal to “seriously, people, stop buying masks.” Then came the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention call for Americans to wear face masks. Then came Anthony Fauci’s flirtation — brief — with the press to wear goggles and face shields. Then came Fauci’s “it’s common sense” call to wear two masks, based on the theory that if one is good, two are better — leaving it so far unanswered what that means for three or more. Now come the nose masks from Mexico.
And Americans are supposed to walk around with cloth-stitched snouts on their faces?
To steal from the surgeon general: “Seriously, people.”
That’s the stupidest thing since square wheels.
“Human cells that give people a sense of smell are a key entry point for coronavirus, making nose coverings important, according to Johns Hopkins University,” Fox News wrote, about a video that’s making media waves showing a man and woman eating and drinking with the fabricated pig snouts on their noses.
It’d be hilarious — first the couple remove their duck bills, i.e. face masks, to reveal their pig snouts, i.e. nose coverings beneath, and then begin eating. Except it’s not.
Except this is where the world’s bureaucrats of health, this is where the globe’s ministers of medicine, want free, liberty-minded, American independent citizens to go.
CBS News: “Researchers in Mexico have made a dost-only Covid mask, which they say reduces the risk of infection of coronavirus during eating and talking.”
Which they say? That’s the science that’s going to lead us down this path?
At least Sen. Marco Rubio is taking a stand against this nonsense.
“No! I am sorry, but no!” the Florida Republican tweeted, above a cut of the video.
If Americans adopt this new mask nonsense, we might as well admit defeat. We might as well turn in the Constitution, toss out the Declaration of Independence, and hold out our wrists, pressed together, in humble acceptance of the government handcuffs.
And any business — any restaurant — that puts up a sign saying “no nose mask, no entry” is a business and restaurant that deserves immediate boycott.
