OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The increases in the average numbers of new coronavirus cases and deaths attributed to the illness caused by the virus, COVID-19, continued to show declines on Saturday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The rolling average of new cases during the past two weeks decreased by 47.2%, from 676 to 357 per day, according to the Johns Hopkins data, and the daily number of deaths fell from 22 to 12.
As of Friday, there were a reported 434,491 virus cases since the pandemic began, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, which no longer updates its daily totals on Saturday and Sunday.
The health department reported 7,673 COVID-19 deaths, based on death certificates submitted to the federal Centers for Disease Control.
The number of new cases per capita in Oklahoma was 39th in the United States at 151 per 100,000 residents, according to the Johns Hopkins data.
