After making a splash with quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and cornerback William Jackson III, the Washington Football Team focused on depth Wednesday by re-signing a pair of veterans.
The team agreed to one-year deals with tackle David Sharpe and running back Lamar Miller, two players who joined Washington last year.
Sharpe, 25, is a swing tackle who appeared in 10 games last season. He started two of those contests at right tackle, when Morgan Moses flipped to the opposite side to fill in for an injured Cornelius Lucas. Washington acquired Sharpe last September from the Las Vegas Raiders, swapping a pair of draft picks in the process.
Miller, on the other hand, didn’t see the field for Washington in 2020 after he was added in December. A former Pro Bowler with the Houston Texans, Miller has not had a rushing attempt since 2018. He’ll provide depth in training camp behind Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber.
Details of the contracts were not immediately available. The NFL Network first reported the signings.
Beyond Miller and Sharpe, Washington has also brought back guard Brandon Scherff, kicker Dustin Hopkins, quarterback Taylor Heinicke and quarterback Kyle Allen. The team also tendered restricted free agent wideout Cam Sims, likely keeping him as well.
