BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) -
The FBI is seeking a 36-year-old Montana man who authorities said was shot in a weekend altercation on the Crow Indian Reservation that also left a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer with minor injuries.
Darnell Lee Notafraid is wanted after fleeing the scene of Sunday morning’s shooting in Lodge Grass, about 20 miles (32 kilometers) from the Wyoming state line, FBI spokesperson Sandra Yi Barker said.
Notafraid’s condition was unknown and he remained at large Wednesday morning, Barker said.
Officials have not said how the BIA officer was injured or provided any other details, including whether any others were present during the encounter with Notafraid.
Notafraid, a member of the Crow Tribe, is described as 5 feet, 6 inches ( 1.7 meters ) tall, 160 pounds (73 kilograms) with brown eyes and black hair. He has tattoos on his chest, finger, left hand, and right arm.
