CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Oregon State University’s Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday to review an investigative report into sexual misconduct complaints and Title IX issues at Louisiana State while OSU president F. King Alexander was president there.
The Board of Trustees said last week they’d review the reports’ findings with Alexander and report their conclusions to the Oregon State community, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported.
The board, along with Alexander, will meet in a virtual public meeting where the board will also consider possible disciplinary action.
A board statement last week sent on behalf of chair Rani Borkar and vice chair Kirk Schueler, said its due diligence during Alexander’s Oregon State hiring process failed to uncover mishandling of sexual misconduct complaints or Title IX issues while Alexander was Louisiana State president from 2013-2020.
The investigation, run by law firm Husch Blackwell, detailed numerous sexual misconduct complaints, most having to do with former LSU football coach Les Miles and several football players.
Alexander said in a statement he was “deeply saddened” by the experiences of the report’s sexual misconduct accusers, but took issue with conclusions that campus handling of Title IX and sexual misconduct cases were unclear and inconsistently managed.
Alexander also said he regrets not taking stronger action against Miles. Miles departed as University of Kansas head coach last week after being placed on administrative leave amid the LSU sexual misconduct allegations.
