LONDONDERRY, N.H. (AP) - A third person arrested in the death of a toddler who ingested fentanyl at a Londonderry truck stop was ordered held without bail on Monday.
A lawyer for Dana Dolan, 24, entered a not guilty plea for him on charges of negligent homicide, manslaughter, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and falsifying physical evidence.
The 21-month-old girl died in November. Police arrested the girl’s parents - Mark Geremia, 32, and Shawna Cote, 29 - last week on similar charges. They also pleaded not guilty and remain jailed.
Authorities said Dolan was arrested Saturday after attempting to flee from an apartment.
Dolan was in a vehicle with Geremia and Cote and the couple’s two daughters on Nov. 16. A police affidavit said all three adults used heroin and fell asleep, and Dolan later woke up to Geremia yelling “she’s dead” about the toddler. Geremia started giving her CPR.
Dolan told police he had an opioid-overdose antidote and that he and Cote tried to give it to the child, police said.
Prosecutor Kristin Vartanian said while Dolan did make some attempts to save the child, “more so than her own parents,” he has a criminal record and is a flight risk.
Dolan’s lawyer said there’s nothing in the affidavit that ties the fentanyl to Dolan.
