Anthony Weiner thinks there may be a lucrative market for the lewd pictures from his “Carlos Danger” past.
The disgraced former congressman — designated a Level 1 sex offender after multiple scandals — says “cashing in” on that era of his life is now possible with nonfungible tokens (NFTs).
Mr. Weiner, also a former New York City mayoral hopeful, sees blockchain technology as the means to fuse politics with digital collectibles.
“He is thinking more seriously — really seriously — about the 2021 version of [selling his infamous laptop to MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell]: getting into the booming business of digital collectibles, known as nonfungible tokens or NFTs, and starting with some of his own holdings,” Ben Smith wrote for The New York Times.
The Democrat offered his not-safe-for-work scandal from 2011 as a possible NFT, along with the search warrant of his laptop and an apology email from comedian Jon Stewart.
“If you do believe in this butterfly effect, I’ve got the butterfly’s wings and its antennas,” he told the newspaper. “Cashing in would be nice … [and possibly creating] a new category that lets people buy and sell political collectibles as a form of political fundraising and contributing.”
Mr. Weiner, a recovering sex addict, added that he has few options given his political baggage.
“It’s very narrow — the places that I can work without having The New York Post just make everyone’s life miserable,” he lamented.
