Anthony Fauci may be facing some serious accusations of lying about the origins of the coronavirus, of lying about the efficacy of the face masks, of lying about the types of research U.S. taxpayers may have been funding in Wuhan’s lab — but President Biden says not to worry.

“I’m very confident in Dr. Fauci,” he told reporters in Delaware, after delivering a speech on the economy, The Hill reported.

Come again?

How so?

If the show of confidence is in Fauci’s strictly scientific advisements based on strictly truthful assessments of the coronavirus and on his strictly strict policy to steer clear of politics and only suggest, recommend and guide on best health practices — the question remains: Come again? Insert emoji with dumbfounded facial expression here.

But if the show of confidence is in Fauci’s ability to twist and turn on truth like Elvis did his pelvis, well then, ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.

Agreed.

Fauci’s a total spinmeister and on that, all Americans can bank.

That’s hardly to say all America can rest easy, though. There are plenty of questions that need answering.

“Rand Paul says Fauci lied to him over US-funded research at Wuhan lab,” one MSN headline ran.

“Enough of Fauci’s lies!” another headline, this one from a commentary writer at The New York Post, screamed.

“Critics Call to Fire Dr. Fauci After Emails Show Him Saying Face Masks Don’t Work Against COVID,” yet another headline blared, from Newsweek just a couple of days ago.

Biden may be spitting out a vote of confidence in the good doctor for political reasons; maybe even for personal reasons. But coronavirus weary — coronavirus frightened — Americans shouldn’t have to suffer deceptions from their bureaucrats, or even illusions of deceptions that are never clarified. It’s not only plain wrong. Why should hard-working Americans pay the salaries of bureaucrats who won’t stand for accountability? But it’s also dangerous. It actually places Americans’ lives in jeopardy.

Let’s say another coronavirus comes along — another pandemic — another virus with even worse health risks and death statistics than COVID-19. You think Americans will so willingly cede their individual liberties again to health bureaucrats like Fauci? You think Americans will bide the government demands, the business shutdowns, the school closures, the churches shuttered, and more, all based on the utterings and mutterings of federal nannies in the medical field?

Not with so many unanswered questions about this coronavirus.

Maybe the Democrats and socialists and collectivists and non-thinking types would obey — but not the rest of the country. Not the majority of thinking Americans.

For the integrity of science, to restore belief in the government health system, these red flags flying about Fauci and his FOIA’d email messages need to be addressed and clarified. It’s the right thing to do. It’s the moral thing to do.

And if Biden were interested in doing the right and moral thing for the country, he wouldn’t be so knee-jerkingly quick to toss a vote of confidence to a man who has zero confidence of a large portion of America’s population.
