CNN’s Jim Acosta heard familiar sounds on Wednesday while pushing former President Trump to apologize for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot — boos.
The reporter who was heckled with “CNN sucks!” during Mr. Trump’s famous rallies found himself in a similar spot during the Republican’s U.S.-Mexico border visit.
“At border event with Trump and Abbott I asked Trump if he’s going to apologize for January 6,” Mr. Acosta tweeted. “He did not respond. Crowd of mostly GOP members and staff booed.”
“Will you apologize about Jan. 6?” he asked while the former president addressed the border chaos with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Attendees booed and shouted “No!” at the inquiry.
Mr. Acosta’s follow-up attempt for Mr. Abbott was drowned out by music that started playing on loudspeakers.

“In just five months, the Biden Administration has done everything it can to reverse President Trump’s border strategy,” the governor told the crowd. “And their open border policies have led to a disaster at our southern border. Because of President Biden’s outright refusal to secure the border, the State of Texas is stepping up to continue the work of the Trump administration by building a wall and restoring law and order along the border.”
“Biden is destroying our country,” Mr. Trump added during his remarks.
Similarly, the former president said a political illness has thrown the nation into an existential crisis.
“We have a sick country in many ways,” Mr. Trump said. “It’s sick in elections, and it’s sick in the border. And if you don’t have good elections, and if you don’t have a strong border, you don’t have a country.”
