Naomi Osaka’s break from tennis will last a little longer after the tennis superstar announced she will not play at Wimbledon.
“She is taking some personal time with friends and family. She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans,” according to a statement from her team Thursday.
Osaka withdrew from the French Open before her second round match on May 31, citing health reasons, and hasn’t played since. She hasn’t given an exact date when she will return to the court. Wimbledon starts June 28, while the Summer Olympics start July 23.
The four-time Grand Slam singles champion is expected to be the star of the Olympic games in Japan, her home country.
