Washington Mystics guard Tina Charles was named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week after averaging 21.3 points a game last week, the league announced on Monday.

Charles, the 2012 WNBA MVP, led the Mystics to a 2-1 record while averaging 8.3 rebounds a game through the three-game stretch. Washington beat the Minnesota Lynx 85-81 on June 8 and the Los Angeles Sparks 89-71 on Thursday, before falling to the Atlanta Dream 101-78 on Sunday.

This week’s award is the first of the season for Charles, but it marked the 31st of her career — most of any player in the league’s 25-year history. It was the first time since July 2019 that Charles received the weekly award.

Charles is averaging 24 points and 8.4 rebounds a game through the team’s first 10 games, the best scoring start in her career.

The Seattle Storm’s Breanna Stewart was named Western Conference Player of the Week after averaging 18.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in a three-game undefeated stretch.
