KENAI, Alaska (AP) - A 17-year-old swimmer who will be a senior at Seward High School this year will be swimming for gold on Monday.

Lydia Jacoby qualified for the 100-meter breaststroke finals at the Olympics in Tokyo. She posted the third-fastest time in Sunday’s semifinals.

She won the first semifinal with a time of 1 minute, 5.72 seconds.

Tatjana Schoenmaker of South Africa won the second semifinal with a time of 1:05.07. Lilly King of the United States was second in that race, finishing in 1:05.40.

The Peninsula Clarion reports the finals will be held at 6:17 p.m. Alaska time Monday, with Jacoby in lane three.
