The rift between the Green Bay Packers and some of their star players appears to be deepening.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ future in Green Bay seems to be dwindling, and now wide receiver Davante Adams looks as if he could be on his way out after this season. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Packers and Adams have abandoned long-term contract extension talks and the two parties don’t plan to resume those discussions.
The Packers and Adams have been negotiating a new deal for months, with Adams’ current contract set to expire following this season. But the two parties “are now in a bad place,” according to Rapoport. Green Bay’s proposals thus far fell short of making Adams the highest-paid receiver in the league.

Adams is due $12.25 million in base salary in 2021, the final year of a four-year deal he signed in 2017. The former second-round selection is a four-time Pro Bowler, and he became an All-Pro in 2020, when he posted 1,374 receiving yards with 18 touchdowns.
When Packers training camp opens next week, it’s unclear if Rodgers will be there. Adams said last month he wouldn’t hold out for a new deal, so he should play this season.
