Geraldo Rivera quadrupled down on his call for social punishment of “dopey” people who don’t get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.
Without specifying what he was watching, the Fox News commentator wrote Monday on Twitter that he was “hearing crazy talk on cable TV right now about folks having the constitutional right not to get vaccinated.”
Mr. Rivera said vaccine resisters “may be dopey” but added that “they do have that right.”
But then he said that other people have the right to ostracize people whom they perceive as a threat or don’t wish to associate with, including not allowing them in schools or businesses.
“We too have rights: to deny the unvaccinated access to our home, school or business,” he wrote.
In a later exchange with Soledad O’Brien, he repeated the intelligence insult when the former CNN anchor said vaccine resisters “are your people.”
“They are not my people Soledad. They are dopes. Get Vaccinated,” Mr. Rivera replied.
Monday was not the first or even the second time Mr. Rivera had called for the social shunning of people who don’t get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Last week, he noted the “absolutely insane” situation that nearly one-third of New York’s nursing-home workers hadn’t been vaccinated and called for a social crackdown.
“No Vaccine, no work, no school, no in-person shopping. You have a right not to be vaccinated. I have the right to protect my kids,” he wrote then.
