PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - Oakland County in southeastern Michigan has been lauded again for its fiscal reporting.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has awarded Oakland top honors for the 29th year in a row, the county said.

Oakland County earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report for the 2019 fiscal year. The report was published in 2020 and discloses the county’s finances in full detail to anyone who wants to review them.

“This year has been full of challenges and our fiscal services team has done a tremendous job maintaining top notch services to taxpayers throughout the pandemic,” Oakland County Executive David Coulter said.

The team facilitated the county’s use of federal CARES Act funds in response to the coronavirus pandemic while implementing a balanced budget and maintaining Oakland’s AAA bond rating, Coulter added.
