BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts’ Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack is leaving to become deputy administrator of the Federal Highway Administration under President Joe Biden’s administration, Gov. Charlie Baker’s office announced Thursday.
The Republican governor said Pollack will step down as MassDOT Secretary and CEO on Jan. 26 and begin working for the Democratic president’s administration the next day.
Baker said Pollack provided “stability and leadership” during her six-year tenure, which included crippling blizzards that exposed infrastructure problems at the MBTA and a management and records scandal at the RMV.
Jamey Tesler, who heads the state Registry of Motor Vehicles, will take over as the state’s acting secretary of transportation while Colleen Ogilvie, currently the deputy registrar, will serve as acting registrar of the RMV, Baker said.
Tesler has held a variety of roles at the state Department of Transportation over the years, including chief operating officer and chief of staff, according to Baker’s office. He’s also worked in the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, the governor’s legal office and the state treasurer’s office.
