Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will miss the rest of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns after suffering a concussion in the third quarter.

Mahomes got hurt when taking a hard hit on third-and-1 as he was trying to scramble for the first down.  Mahomes’ knees buckled as he got up and was soon taken to the medical tent. After being checked there, Mahomes was taken back to the locker room for further evaluation.

The Chiefs ruled Mahomes out in the fourth quarter, just as the Browns were driving to score. Kansas City leads the game 22-17 with 11:07 left.

Veteran Chad Henne replaced Mahomes under center.

The defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs need to win to advance to the AFC Championship game.
