LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island man facing two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of a married couple found in their Lincoln home was held without bail at his arraignment Friday.
Timothy McQuesten, 49, did not enter pleas and was referred to the public defender’s office. The judge ordered a competency hearing.
He’s charged with murder in the deaths of Kimberly and Mark Dupre.
The couple, both in their 60s, was found in their home on Thursday morning by police responding to a call from a neighbor, Capt. Philip Gould said. Kim Dupre was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mark Dupre was taken to the hospital where he died.
They died from blunt force trauma, likely with a hammer, prosecutors said.
Authorities did not disclose a motive but said there was a previous relationship between the victims and the suspect.
McQuesten, who lived near the couple, called police Thursday after he heard “some bad news” had happened to them, Gould said.
