The Philadelphia Eagles requested to interview Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their head coaching vacancy, according to multiple reports.

Moore, 32, has held his current position for the last two years and is known for his creative designs. With Moore, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott took a major step forward — throwing for a career-high 4,902 yards in 2019 and was on pace to top that in 2020 before he suffered a season-ending broken ankle.

The Eagles are in the market for a new coach after they fired Doug Pederson on Monday. Philadelphia is coming off a 4-11-1 season and made the change following a series of meetings between owner Jeffrey Lurie and Pederson.

Philadelphia’s new coach will have to choose whether to start Carson Wentz or Jalen Hurts at quarterback. Hurts replaced Wentz over the final four games in 2020, but Wentz, the second overall pick in 2016, begins his four-year, $128 million contract extension next season.

Moore recently signed a three-year extension with Dallas, so it will be interesting to see if the franchise grants permission. Teams typically don’t block coaches from interviewing for positions that would help advance their careers.

Other rumored candidates for the Eagles’ coaching vacancy include San Francisco defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, Tampa Bay defensive coordinator Todd Bowels and Titans offensive coordinator Artur Smith.
