The Washington Football Team listed quarterback Alex Smith, wide receiver Terry McLaurin and running back Antonio Gibson as questionable for Sunday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Smith was a limited participant in Friday’s practice and is seeking to make his return after a calf injury sidelined him the last two weeks. McLaurin (high-ankle sprain) and Gibson (turf toe) did not practice.
Rivera said McLaurin and Gibson worked with trainers off to the side, while Smith had a good day of work. He added Smith’s status will depend on how the 36-year-old responds on Saturday.
Last week, Smith went through a full practice Friday, but woke up sore the next day — preventing him from playing in a loss to the Carolina Panthers.
McLaurin, meanwhile, also looks to suit up after missing last week’s game. The 25-year-old is battling a high ankle sprain and did not practice at all this week.
Rivera has not expressed as much concern about Gibson, who made his return last weekend after a two-game absence.
“Antonio’s fine,” Rivera said Thursday. “The play, the way he did and as much as he did with that toe, it’s tough. What happens is you try to be smart with it and try to keep him off of it as much as possible. He gets a lot of reps in the walk-throughs and stuff like that. That’s the important part.”
Besides Smith, McLaurin and Gibson, Washington also listed linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (ankle) as questionable.
Linebacker Thomas Davis (knee) will be out.
