LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 45-year-old Nevada man is facing a federal weapons charge after he was arrested outside a business at a suburban Las Vegas-area airport clad in a ballistic vest and carrying a handgun and a machete, authorities said Monday.

Etori Hughes of Las Vegas was arrested Jan. 30 after Henderson police were called to Henderson Executive Airport about an armed man trying to inside the flight school business, U.S. Attorney Nicholas Trutanich said.

Court documents allege Hughes had a 9mm handgun, more than 350 bullets loaded in 14 ammunition magazines, swords, a smoke grenade, gas mask and other items in a car belonging to his estranged wife.

An employee at All In Aviation used cellphone video to record Hughes wearing a tactical vest and gearing up with weapons in the parking lot, a criminal complaint said.

Trutanich said a restraining order issued in 2012 by a judge in New Orleans banned Hughes from possessing firearms.

Hughes appeared Friday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel Albregts in Las Vegas. The judge scheduled a preliminary hearing of evidence Feb. 19.

Court records did not immediately reflect if Hughes has an attorney.
