As if Tom Brady has anything left to win after securing his seventh Super Bowl title, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback confirmed he’s not done terrorizing opponents in the NFL.
“We’re coming back,” Brady said, Lombardi Trophy in hand, “you already know that.”
Brady was named the Super Bowl MVP for the fifth time Sunday for his performance in Tampa Bay’s 31-9 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. He completed 21 of his 29 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns. He found tight end Rob Gronkowski, who followed him from the New England Patriots, for two scores.
Brady becomes the oldest player to be named the Super Bowl MVP — breaking his own record — although he doesn’t look like a 43-year-old when he’s on the field. Brady is still under contract for next season before potentially becoming a free agent again.
“I’m so proud of all these guys out here,” Brady said postgame. “We had a rough month of November, but [coach Bruce Arians] had all the confidence in us, the team had a lot of confidence, we came together at the right time. I think we knew this was going to happen tonight, didn’t we?”
“This team is World Champions forever,” Brady added. “You can’t take it away from us.”
