BOSTON (AP) - A New Hampshire man who drove to Massachusetts to have sex with someone he thought was a 13-year-old child has pleaded guilty, federal prosecutors say.
Donald Gibson, 38, of Nashua, New Hampshire, pleaded guilty Thursday to traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a person under 18 years of age, distribution of child pornography and transportation of child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Boston.
Sentencing was scheduled for June 11. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
Gibson was arrested in February 2020 after exchanging text messages with an undercover agent and devising a plan to meet the agent and his purported 13-year-old daughter in a hotel room in Tewksbury, prosecutors said.
He was arrested as he entered the hotel. A forensic analysis of the phone Gibson had on his person revealed child pornography, prosecutors said.
