HAZEL DELL, Wash. (AP) - Sheriff’s deputies in Clark County, Washington shot and critically wounded a person on Thursday.
KOIN reports the incident began about 7:40 p.m. in Hazel Dell. The Columbian reports there was a traffic stop by deputies around that time and that authorities were sent to a reported shooting a few minutes later.
A tan, Mercedes sedan was seen crashed into a fence in the yard of a residence and the area was surrounded by crime scene tape, the newspaper reported.
The identity of the person shot, described by the sheriff’s office as a suspect, hasn’t been released and no details about the circumstances of the shooting were available.
Authorities said the “involved deputies” were placed on leave, standard procedure in these cases.
The investigation into the incident will be handled by the Regional Independent Investigation Team.
